Good book and a good finish to the series. Seemed a little out of step with the 2 previous books though, like the author forgot about it for several years and then tried to finish the story. Still, glad it was completed and glad I read it.

These books on countless occasions have been recommended! When you read them you will true realize why!Amazing trilogy, read all three!

Perfect book. Needed a second copy for my grown children, as is was a book I read them as small children.
Nita B –
I read Karen Mains first two books in Kingdom Series to my children when they were little. I was not able to get the third book back then and have only now been able to. I can’t wait to read it to my grand-children!
mamawithheart –
I had the first book in the series as a kid & now my children LOVE the stories. I can’t wait to read the next two books in the series to them!
Brenda Norton –
This is one of the best books I have ever read. Just like the Chronicles of Narnia I read it once a year. Lots of life lessons.

I have been waiting for years to get this, the third book in the set! I was pregnant with my oldest daughter, when I found the first two at a Christian Book store, they had just been BANNED, along with the C.W. LEWIS series. I was SHOCKED. My kids LOVED these books, the stories they tell and the lessons they portray. HIGHLY recommend this book and the the 2 others. I do prefer the HARDCOVER as the art in the books just adds to the whole story experience.
William Blane –
Great book for ages 9 and above. This triology is a unique blend of Chronicles of Naria and Lord of the Rings. I often cry when I read these. Not from the sadness or treachery that is a part of it but because of the beauty and glory of God is so real and affectionately portrayed in each of the stories.
Sandy Wright –
This first story in this book is so wonderful. I love the type and shadow of this story. I had a friend that read us this story and a bunch of us just had to get them for ourselves. I wish there were more authors like the Mains.
Ariana –
You should definitely be reading these to your kids and even just you and your husband or wife. Such beautiful principles.

While I enjoyed some elements of the earlier two books (Tales of the Kingdom, Tales of the Resistance) I find this final book to falter in comparison. The beef many readers have with the change of illustrators has already been discussed (and I agree–Hero, for the most part, looks awkwardly drawn and uncomfortable in every illustration!), but it is not the only weakness with this third installment. It opens with the somewhat eye-rolling tale of the Grandma Vigilantes, a story that extends even my (admittedly generous) willingness to suspend belief. Even if it is meant to function as pure metaphor, the idea of elderly women roaming the streets at 3am, bludgeoning the formerly-very-evil-an-now-weirdly-comical(?)-Naysayers of the earlier two books is just a silly idea. If this is meant to be a spiritual metaphor for prayer, it is rather non-committal and weirdly gentle in its handling of evil things. Each of the tales seems to follow a similar pattern–the formerly more dire or intense situations seem much more pandering and simplified than before, breaking the continuity of the earlier two books, in my opinion. Though many of the characters mentioned in the earlier two books get mentioned again (which is nice to see), I just don’t find their struggles engaging or realistic. If you want to complete your collection of the books, I guess its a purchase you could make, but don’t expect to be wowed.

I read all three of these books out loud during our lunch break for my homeschooled kindergarten to 5th grade students. They loved every minute. Each story had such good messages that the kids could easily connect them to the teachings of God and Jesus in the Bible. I would recommend this series for all ages

The 3rd book in the Tales of the Kingdom series follows Hero, once known as Scar Boy and Hunter, once known as Little Child in the adventures in Bright City. Reclaiming the city from the enchanter takes faith in the true King and perseverance.

I am very sad to see that the Kindle edition is now not illustrated. I purchased the first book of the trilogy a year or two ago and it included illustrations. Now none of the three do. It is not worth the lower price to leave out the illustrations.

I am thrilled to have completed 3 sets of this series by Karen/David Mains….if you have not read them you are missing out. Great trilogy with biblical concepts portrayed.

Twelve more stories in the last book of the trilogy. This one did not end each tale with a written moral to contemplate. The hidden truth was implied in the reading.Time has passed since we met the major characters. Much growth and wisdom. A new found purpose – destiny or place in the Kingdom.Restoration, to me, in biblical terms means to go back to the original plan/purpose, especially after getting off course or adversity interference. Did all end like this in these tales? To me NO! The tales end with a celebration and I’m left confused and wanting more answers. Why so many loose ends? Where’s Sovereign? What happened to the Enchanter and his crew? Where are the punishments? Where’s the Rewards?I don’t see a logical conclusion. Why name Restoration? To me this restoration wasn’t complete. There’s so much that still needs to be done. I’m happy for Hero, but isn’t Restoration suppose to be for all in the Kingdom?Of the three parts in this trilogy, this is my least favorite. I’m left wanting more…no resolve…only unanswered questions. Why start the trilogy without a definite conclusion?Maybe it’s the adult in me. I guess I need to look from a child’s perspective. See this as fairy tales and maybe the ending for the main character is fine. As an allegory pushing a personal relationship with the King and Restoration of His people, I’m so disappointed!!! Ugh! I need more! I need this to be done better! I don’t want an afterthought, but a full blown positive conclusion as representative of Restoration!!I shouldn’t fret…at least I was able to read thirty-six reasonably done tales with a moral to boot.I do recommend this book to read, for the stories were compelling, but it’s mis-titled, to me. I could give this book a 3.5 star rating.

I have loved this series since I was young. The stories are fun and exciting and are not overly “preachy”. I love the Christian message, but to be honest, never saw the connection when I was younger. To me it was always a good story. Now that I am older I have purchased several copies of the whole series for my own family and also some friends. I think it is a great way to reinforce the story of Christ without making it feel like a bible lesson. Younger children will love the stories and older ones will understand the correlation between them and bible stories. I highly recommend this for any child’s library.

“Tales of the Restoration” is the third book of the “Tales of the Kingdom” series. I read these books so many times to my two sons as they were growing up, as well as to numerous other children in my care that I almost have them memorized and I still get teary-eyed when I read them. It’s truly one of the most beautiful analogies to my understanding of God’s kingdom that I’ve ever read. Every child I read to wanted to hear the stories again and again. My oldest son, who is now 25 even reads the stories to his female friends and they love it. I highly recommend the entire 3-book series.

I have enjoyed reading all the reviews of the “Tales of the Kingdom” and “Tales of the Resistance” by David and Karen Mains. I, however, purchased the original cassette tapes of “Tales of the Kingdom” and “Tales of the Resistance” years ago waiting for grandchildren to be born. I LOVED that David Mains read the books. He puts his voice into EACH character and they become alive! The sound effects put me right in the middle of each scene.I would like to purchase the author’s reading of “The Tales of the Restoration” but have NOT seen them listed anywhere. Does anybody know if David Mains “read” the last book?I can’t tell you how much I thoroughly enjoyed his reading and hope to have my little granddaughter listen to the first two books soon!

The lessons/tales continued the fine quality of earlier books in this series. Concluding with the wedding was a very nice touch.
Karissa Lines –
I love the stories in this final volume of the Tales of the Kingdom series. My biggest beef is that there is a different illustrator for this one. And this illustrator isn’t as good! Part of the beauty of the first two illustrated volumes is that the illustrator reads the stories and truly illumines the text with their art. This guy’s illustrations look like he just sort of glanced at the story and drew whatever he wanted. It’s details like hair color, setting, clothing styles, that are just so alien to the series. If you want to finish a trilogy, do it right!
Rootie –
Really enjoyed this book. The stories stick in your mind and go deep.

This is a great collection of stories to finish up the “Tales of the Kingdom” series, set in the Bright City. There a lot of great jewels in here and I highly recommend them for kids, and adults. Compared to other children’s stories these are a great nugget of treasure… however, compared to the first two books this one is not as strong.
ESP11 –
Am I the only reader of the “Tales of the Kingdom” trilogy that is so very disappointed in the final installment? Both stories and illustrations seem to be a rush job — not the quality of the first two books. “Tales of the Kingdom” and “Tales of the Resistance” are powerful allegories; I finished both and breathed, “Oh…wow!” Finished “Tales of the Restoration” and thought, “Oh, no!” “Grandma Vigilantes” is just silly; and is “The Girl with the Very Loud Outside Voice” trying to be politically correct (accept everyone)? But the biggest, biggest disappointment was Amanda turning down Hero…after this romance was so beautifully developed in the first two books. I felt as betrayed as Hero must have been! Nothing against Thespia, but why did the Mainses change their minds?

My parents encountered Tales Of The Resistance in the late 1980s or early 1990s. A few years later, we acquired Tales Of The Kingdom. … Tales of the Restoration incorporates the minor characters from the previous two books fluidly. The final chapter’s conclusion is hinted at various points in the third book. Well done.

Read this aloud to my kids and they loved the stories. The stories are connected to each other, but each one interesting. These stories show Christ’s love for us and His working in mysterious ways in our lives.

Beautiful book, beautiful illustrations. Loved the authors personal signature. Product sent speedily. I was surprised at how quickly I received it.

My daughters (6 and 8) LOVE these books. They are creatively written, with a clear KINGDOM message in every chapter. As one concerned about the affect of fairy-tale-type literature, I’ve found these books to completely transcend such concerns.
N. Lee –
This is an absolutely wonderful series! I recommend it to anyone who has children, or if you simply like fantasy. What I really appreciate, is although the Mainses are Christian writers, the stories aren’t overly “Christian”. They are more like fables/fairy tales where the moral can apply to anyone, no matter their faith. I have to say though, I enjoyed Tales of the Kingdom a little more, mainly because the arwork was better.
